All about False Information

Image
KevinMD STEPS TO STOP      In a world full of lies, how can we protect ourselves from being trapped in a web of false information in places we believe the truth lives? How can we dig beyond lies to uncover reality? Fake news, misinformation, disinformation, hoaxes, and conspiracy theories all lead us down to dangerous paths. They mislead, confuse, and manipulate, turning simple curiosity into a maze of illusion.      Fake news is crafted to deceive. It presents information that is not factual or real, often creating illusions that seem believable. Misinformation may sound similar, but it refers to incorrect or misleading information that is shared without the intention to deceive anyone. Unlike misinformation, disinformation is deliberate; it is meant to mislead, confuse, or manipulate people into believing a false narrative.      Hoaxes also play a role in spreading deception. They present stories or claims that are completely fabricated...

sakit mo, ya

In the midst of every blurry and suffocating crowd, one is always looked for, and one seeks for what feels like eternity. It doesn’t even matter when her chest feels tighter by the second as she squeezes through the crowd. What more can she demand? Well, as I scanned the people surrounding me, I finally found him. I was ecstatic. I could feel myself rise with happiness. He looked utterly handsome—not just that, but even more adorable. My heart fluttered, yet it ached. I know there’s nothing to be hurt about, but why do I suddenly feel this shooting pain whenever I see him smile with people I can never be? I shouldn’t be feeling this. He is just someone I admire to keep myself motivated—a happy crush. Getting heartbroken by someone younger than you is so frustrating, and what makes it more annoying is the audacity they have, like, bro, have you forgotten your place? But what makes it sadder is using someone to forget the person who once haunted you… and then suddenly developing seri...

Small Steps, Big Process

I have seen my school, Palo National High School, improve little by little. This journey is truly exciting for young campus journalists like me, as we get to document and preserve these moments behind the lens. Being able to capture every bit of progress in our school is truly an honor because these are not just images—they represent our road to achievement. Starting off with some agricultural enhancement, PNHS has not only planted more plants and crops, but has also cultivated harmony in every part of the soil. This symbolizes the strength and growth of every learner, beginning with allowing their own beauty to flourish. This path leads to a higher potential for learning. Constructing a better walkway for students has helped inspire and motivate them, reminding everyone that despite the rocky paths they once faced, there will always be a smoother trail ahead—one that leads to endless possibilities. This landmark shows that even with the struggles and failures it once...

A Moment to Cherish

My first photography/photojournalism experience was amazing. I can’t fully express how enthusiastic I was during our discussion about photography and photojournalism. Learning how to take good pictures and how to determine whether a picture is of good quality was so much fun! I’m happy that I finally learned the essential angles, the different types of photography, and even the most important qualities a picture should have. Aside from that, I was also very excited because I finally got to meet Sir Archie, a professional and widely known photographer. Although I had seen him during press conferences back when I was still in elementary school, it was still thrilling to see him up close. I remember seeing him once, but I’m not sure how old I was—maybe around 12. Anyway, as a journalist, meeting someone who is both a judge in press conferences and a professional photographer, things can't get more exciting!  He was so kind, and he even shared insights with us, the SPJ learners, wh...

Beyond the Click

What is Photojournalism? Have you ever wondered how photojournalists take pictures? With these pictures, they show such creativity and tell profound stories. It’s funny how people often get confused about the difference between photography and photojournalism. But one thing’s for sure: both give a perspective behind the lens that no one can imagine without such focused attention. Let’s dive into a world full of lessons about photojournalism! Photojournalism is basically about sharing untold stories, capturing every moment of them. In short: it’s storytelling through photos. Think of it as journalism, but instead of paragraphs, the photographer uses real, unedited moments to show what’s happening in the world—news events, human stories, issues, victories, tragedies—everything. At first, people might think it’s as simple as taking pictures. Well, if you’re a professional, it may not be as hard as it sounds, but if you’re still learning and trying to understand its concepts, you’ll ne...
