A Moment to Cherish

My first photography/photojournalism experience was amazing. I can’t fully express how enthusiastic I was during our discussion about photography and photojournalism. Learning how to take good pictures and how to determine whether a picture is of good quality was so much fun! I’m happy that I finally learned the essential angles, the different types of photography, and even the most important qualities a picture should have.

Aside from that, I was also very excited because I finally got to meet Sir Archie, a professional and widely known photographer. Although I had seen him during press conferences back when I was still in elementary school, it was still thrilling to see him up close. I remember seeing him once, but I’m not sure how old I was—maybe around 12. Anyway, as a journalist, meeting someone who is both a judge in press conferences and a professional photographer, things can't get more exciting!

He was so kind, and he even shared insights with us, the SPJ learners, which made us admire him even more. I’m also lowkey happy because he chose one of my photos as one of the best shots during our activity. I never imagined that a picture I took would impress someone like him. I’m just so happy about everything.

Before I end my sharing of experience, I would like to thank Sir Ronald for inviting such a wonderful guest just to help us understand and learn more about photojournalism. Sir Ronald, we can never thank you enough for your kind heart. Thank you for Sir Archie as well, the way you taught us with such determination helped us totally absorb the learnings you’ve imparted. I’m so happy to join this workshop, I thank God for we are blessed with the professionals who have been there for us to make us become campus journalists. I wish to repeat the experience again!

  1. Thank you for sharing your experience. Your message honestly made me smile. I am glad you enjoyed the workshop because you showed real curiosity and talent, and that is why your photo stood out.

Keep practicing and keep telling stories through your lens. You already have the eye for it. I hope this is just the start of your journey in photojournalism.

Thank you for the kind words. It was great meeting you. See you again soon, and keep shooting. Your best shots are still coming.
